Chief Medical Office and Founder
Dr. Hutchins graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago and trained at one of the top Emergency Medicine residency programs, the University of Chicago. Prior to her medical training, Dr. Hutchins received her master's degree in public health, with a focus on policy and management. In addition to her clinical experience, she has over a decade of experience with health systems, care delivery, digital health solutions, and quality improvement. Dr. Hutchins brings her award-winning leadership and bedside manner to apios, providing compassionate evidence-based care to our clients. She oversees the hiring and operations of all apios providers, as well as quality improvement programs, ensuring all our patients can expect the same high-quality interactions with any apios provider.

As a board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Heath has a long history in healthcare, both in surgery and in developing models to streamline the delivery of healthcare. He was a founder of Modio Health, a top software credentialing company, and now partnered with Dr. Hutchins, a founder of Apios Health.

Care Team Physician
Dr. O’Brien is a board-certified physician in Emergency Medicine. He graduated with honors from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. He then completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago. Prior to beginning his medical career, Dr. O’Brien received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota, where he was also a D1 athlete (Go Gophers!).
Dr. O’Brien has over 7 years of bedside clinical experience in several busy Level 1 trauma centers. His training in emergency medicine has provided him with expertise in treating various medical ailments. His passions also include LGBTQ+ health, quality improvement, and evidence-based care. Dr. O’Brien looks forward to being a part of your care team!

Care Team Physician
Dr. Karras is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Following medical school she completed residency at the University of Chicago one of the nation’s best emergency medicine programs. She also competed a fellowship in simulation at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Emily is currently a clinical associate at the University of Chicago.
